The most important person on earth is a mother!

Posted by Natalia Zieba-Buscemi on

"The most important person on earth is a mother. She cannot claim the honour of having built Notre Dame Cathedral. She need not. She has built something more magnificent than any cathedral – a dwelling for an immortal soul, the tiny perfection of her baby’s body. The angels have not been blessed with such a grace. They cannot share in God’s creative miracle to bring new saints to heaven. Only a human mother can. Mothers are closer to God the Creator than any other creature; God joins forces with mothers in performing this act of creation … What on God’s good earth is more glorious than this: to be a mother?”

~ Cardinal Mindszenty

Something as glorious, precious, mysterious, and beautiful as a mother deserves to be preserved from the looks of those who can't or won't appreciate her. In the Christian tradition, veiling a woman is not "hiding her". To the contrary, it is telling the world : "here is something that is not for public view, that is holy and set apart, for God Himself."  Women have been "set apart", consecrated to the Lord by their procreative powers.
On this Mother's Day, let us be thankful to God for making a part of humanity female, with their own, special gifts. All good is from God, all of it returns to God. Motherhood is a beautiful gift from God, to be handled with utmost care in this life, so that, grace-filled and fruitful, it can be handed back to God gloriously augmented.
